The kits are Seventeen days old now. They are HUGE, all eyes are open, and ears are standing up. The kit above had some trouble with both eyes, they were mattery and stuck so I had to doctor them for a few days, and tonight they are both looking PERFECT! Whew! We are relieved. We’ll keep monitoring them daily for awhile to be sure he/she doesn’t have any more problems.

This is Kit One again, trying to scratch behind his/her ear with a back paw. So adorable!

This is the second kit. No problems with either eye, and less “spooky” than the other kit.
They are almost able to crawl out of their nest box. I have put extra straw and hay in the cage incase they get out and can’t get back in. They are still in the house, so no danger of freezing. We’re checking them three times a day to see that all is well, and to refill Fiona’s (the Momma Bunny) water and food dishes.
The kits won’t get names until they are older. They need to be sexed and grow a bit so we can see if they are good enough to keep for breeding stock. At this point, we are only raising for meat, not show rabbits, so unless there is a major fault, they should make good meat stock.
Hi Jess,
I would be interested in getting some of your bunnies. A pair that are not related of one or the other. Then I can get another somewhere else. Thanks
